This month’s service honours St David, patron saint of Wales, whose feast day was celebrated on March 1st. Music will include Welsh-born Tudor composer
Thomas Tomkins’ Preces & Responses and his anthem Almighty and everlasting God which hatest nothing, along with a setting of the Magnificat & Nunc dimittis by 20th-century Welsh composer William Mathias. Favourite Welsh hymns Blaenwern and Cwm Rhondda will be adorned with exceedingly tasteful descants.
| Evensong, a fusion of the monastic prayer offices Vespers and Compline, is one of the jewels of the Anglican tradition. St Stephen’s Choir of Men & Boys, under the direction of Adric, presents Choral Evensong on the First Sunday of every month. The service begins at 6.00 PM and generally lasts between 35 and 45 minutes.
| Visitors from all faith traditions are always heartily welcomed to join us in prayer, and all are invited to stay for a light reception directly following the service.
| Admission is always free of charge; freewill offerings are gratefully accepted in aid of the choirs charity, Dr Bobs Place, a hospice for children.
